Wakeboard Sizing
Sizing is important!
To get the most out of anything one need to see and take the steps wisely.
Talking about sports, a cricketer wants the most appropriate bat for him; a soccer player look for the right shoes
for him and similarly, a Wakeboard rider wants a totally appropriate wakeboard for him.
A beginner needs his wakeboard to be calm and smooth by keeping him on the surface of water
without moving left or right. He is considered to be afraid of the fall from the wakeboard and thus needs complete
satisfaction before going in the water that his wakeboard will not cause him trouble. On the contrary, an expert
rider expects his wakeboard to move with him and get connected to his brain. He wants it to be light in weight so
that it’s easier for it to let go of the surface and create excitement and thrill for him.
Why is sizing a wakeboard important? Scientifically, we know that if the size of wakeboard
is bigger, it is hard to maneuver while a smaller size will sink in water and gives instability that also leads to
an “unsatisfied rider” situation. The most important part of a wakeboard is its bindings. Binding is an individual
factor that gives comfort or pain. Discomfort in any sports is neither allowed nor expected. Binding always snug
enough that you don’t move your feet move around and not too tight where your feet fall asleep at the beginning of
the ride. Wakeboard Sizing varies with the style that is required, either a beginner or an expert.
Sizing down a Wakeboard
The process sizing a wakeboard is quite simple; some very basic information will give value.
Sizing down a wakeboard reduces weight and thus, gives easy to moves and jumps high in the air. Advanced wake
boarders who like to jump the wake and do different kind of stunts adopt this technique.
Sizing up a Wakeboard
The technique of increasing the weight gives opposite results. Sizing up a wakeboard gives
smooth and slower ride, because the Wakeboard moves slower in the water due to the increased size and gives a
decent ride so that the rider is safe enough and will not jump high in the air. This is the best option for the
beginners and novices to wakeboarding because it allows them to learn wakeboarding and stance position and tactics
involved in the sport before they go for the aggressive level which is a bit difficult and challenging in the
beginning.
Sometimes, riders get confused for either they should get an increase or a decrease in the
wakeboard. This confusion creates problem and effects overall performance. It is advised to consult an expert
before going to the store or a knowledgeable salesperson at the store could also help to find out the right
wakeboard according to your needs and wants.
In short, buying the right thing is a must! This reduces chances of injury and doubles the
fun.
