How to wakeboard
Wakeboarding being
a popular sport, where one is required to balance themselves on the board and ride the waters as the speed boats
pulls you. Although it sounds simple, a lot of skill and practice goes into learning how to
balance and ride the waves when pulled by a speed boat.
The most important thing to remember in
wakeboarding is to get the right board. This
is because a lot with depend upon your weight and height, and your level of skill. Once you have your perfect board it is time to hit the
water. First of all, when you get onto the board; fasten your
feet onto it and hold onto the rope handles which are connected to the rear of the boat and lie back in the
water. When you begin, your feet are pointed upwards while your body
is in the water.
Once the boat is in motion, the tugging of the rope due to the movement of the boat
will help you rise from the water onto the wakeboard.
This means you are in the squatting on the wakeboard which will help to ski on the water. Once you think you are ready and comfortable, you can start rising into a standing
position on the wakeboard. When you do this
make sure, one foot is in front of the other so that all the weight falls onto the back foot. Plus when you do so, turn your hip in a way
that shifts the position of the wakeboard into a straight line than before. When the rope's handle tugs at you, go with the flow.
Let the natural response of your body take over while riding the waters. Not too fast and not too slow. Once you are up, you can begin to ride the waves caused by the boats
movement.
Like any other sport,
timing and practicing are important. As a beginner you will make many mistakes
and fall many a times into the water. Once you have learnt the basics there are a number of
further tricks and stunts that you can perform while wakeboarding.
Tips for
beginners:
Buy the right wakeboard and other requirements. Do not
starts with a speed boat chase right from the word go. You will be able to increase your speed gradually. When
you start let the distance between the boat and you be shorter. This will help you master the sport correctly.
